I'm Moving...

Hey, all!

I have been struggling with this decision for a while now, but I have finally decided that I will be moving the blog to my website. Now that I am writing more books focusing on my career, I find that I have little time or focus to maintain this blog. So, in order to simplify my life a bit, any and all posts will be made on my website instead.

I will leave this blog up. I repeat: I WILL LEAVE THIS BLOG UP. Any posts I have made here will remain here indefinitely. But any NEW posts will be on the website starting now.

Thank you to every single one of you who have added me to your lists, stopped by to say hello, commented, shared, entered giveaways, etc. You all are awesome! Please come visit me at the new blog: http://jcvalentine.weebly.com/blog.html

Posts there won't be as often as they were here, but that is due to the heavy workload I have been maintaining lately. However, I promise to keep you all updated on my work. Stop by, say hello. See you there!

Street Team

The time has come!

My assistant, Kim, and I are overhauling the original street team due to mismanagement. That's right, we are branching off on our own and starting from scratch!

What does this mean for you? Well, we are looking for a few good people to join our happy family and help with promotions and all that jazz. In return for all of your hard work, there will be exclusive giveaways, exclusive excerpts, exclusive access, exclusive...well, you get the idea.

Run, don't walk! The group officially kicks off January 13th!

Beta Readers Wanted!

Knockout is officially done! As I move into edits, I want to get the ball rolling on finding a couple of dedicated readers with a little (or a lot) of experience in beta reading.

I feel I should mention that anyone willing to read for me will be getting the rough copy. Knockout is scheduled to be delivered to my editor's desk at the end of the month. In the meantime, I am looking for feedback that pertains to the storyline. Example: the flow of the story, it's content, and whether everything adds up.

I am looking for someone who:
-reads fast
-has an eye for detail
-ideally, knows a little something about professional MMA/UFC fighting
-enjoys reading NA (new adult) novels
-isn't afraid to tell me straight. Tell me what works and what doesn't.

If you said, "Hey, that sounds like me!" to any of the above mentioned, then please send me a message at branflake3083@gmail.com with "I want to beta read" in the subject line. THANK YOU!!

A Look Back at 2013

The last year has been very eventful for me. I have been blessed to have met many great people along the way--a couple even becoming close friends and confidants.

This year I introduced to you two new books: That First Kiss and Surrender to Love. I never could have dreamed how well Tate would resonate with all of you, but I am thrilled that he did. There has been much debate over which of the Night Calls men is the most delicious, so I am going to put this issue to bed. It's Jon. Wait, it's definitely Felix. No, no, it's Tate, hands down. Okay, I can't decide. They're all equally delicious!

*Save the Date* Felix and Poppy will be returning Valentine's Day 2014 in a hot little novella that will bring readers up-to-date with the struggles they witnessed in previous novels. It's not the end of their story by far, but it does deliver a heavy dose of the bad and the good, in that order. I hope you all love it. Sheila and Tom's story will be next!

Currently, I am working on the first novel in my brand new series, Wayward Fighters, entitled Knockout. Yep, you guessed it, this series is about MMA fighters. It's coming along nicely and will Spring 2014. I hope you all will be there to help me celebrate and spread the word!

In other news, the street team was a bit of a flop. Yes, it stings to admit it, but I had a bumpy ride with the release of Surrender to Love due to a less than stellar job performed by a company that I had placed a lot of hope and faith in, and they let me down big time. However, I have teamed up with an incredible lady that came around at exactly the right time, and together she and I will be revamping the system and making it into what it was supposed to be from the start. I will be posting links and everything you will need to join up once that is ready to go.

Finally, if you want to stay on top of things that are happening with upcoming projects, tours, and more, make sure to sign up for my newsletters! With all of my projects, I don't expect to be posting as often as I did last year, so I won't be flooding your inbox with updates. It's a good way to stay in the know :)

Happy Holidays!

J.C.

I'm still alive!

I have been so busy as of late trying to wrap up Knockout. It seems that Mr. Weston isn't in the mood to be wrapped up just yet, though. I'm getting the feeling that this could be the longest novel I have written to date. You don't mind, though, do you?

It's turning out to be a busy time as we get ready to close out 2013. Between Christmas shopping, wrapping gifts, book tours, writing, and being a mom, there's not much room for anything else. But I assure you, there is a lot to look forward to in the new year.

1. Knockout is coming!

2. A new Night Calls novella featuring our favorite couple, Poppy and Felix, will be returning to pick up where they left off in Surrender to Love. Will they have their happily ever after, or will they go their separate ways? You'll have to wait and see!

3. Shelia and Tom will finally get their time in the spotlight!

As you can see, my head is full of plans! I hope you will all be there to help me celebrate when the time comes to release them into the world :)

Sexy Sunday with a Teaser!

There's nothing sexier than a kiss, am I right?

Read on for a UNEDITED teaser from my upcoming novel, Knockout!

Tossing the towel on the counter, Alyson stepped closer and wrapped her arms around Jami’s waist. Grinning up at him, she said, “You are such a good man, Jamison Weston.”
Jami’s answering smile gave her tingles as he held her tight against him. “Let’s keep that little secret between you and me, hmm? I don’t need the guys thinking “The Judge” had grown soft.”
Feeling the growing hardest pressing into her stomach, Alyson rubbed herself against him. “There isn’t a thing about you that is soft.”
A low growl rumbled in Jami’s chest as he took her head in his hands and brought his head down to rest his forehead against hers. His squeezed his eyes shut as though pained. “Did you come up with an answer yet?”
As much as she wanted to say yes, Alyson just couldn’t. If she had sex with him now, she would be giving herself to him completely and eventually, Jami would tear her heart from her chest. Alyson closed her eyes tight in regret and shook her head.
Jami’s chest swelled as he inhaled deeply and let it back out slowly. “Okay,” he breathed. “Then I’ll just have to settle for kissing you.”

What I'm Thankful For

As the holiday approaches, I see posts everywhere about what people are thankful for, and it got me thinking. What am I thankful for? There are so many things, but today I will start with sharing one.

I am thankful that I have the opportunity to be an author.

I know this probably doesn't sound like much, but to me it really is. I've been writing for years, but I've never really considered myself to be a writer, author, or teller of lies, what have you ;) To be honest, I never really thought I was that good at it, and I certainly never thought I would be successful.

That all changed when I wrote a book entitled That First Kiss and it suddenly took off. Now people know my name, they come to tell me that they enjoyed my work. And I'm like...
Okay, maybe it's not love, but a girl can dream.

It's such a gift to hear those words. They're so simple, but they mean so much to an author. You just don't know. It's affirmation that I am at least somewhat good at what I do, and it gives me incentive to keep doing it.

I am also thankful that this is a paying gig. It didn't used to be, and while some days are better than others, I am thrilled to bits that I can pay my bills and clothe my children and have a little wiggle room to do whatever the hell pleases me from time to time. Being an author has meant seriously changes in my family's life, and all for the better. I really am thankful for that, and I am thankful for all of you!

Thankful Thursday

There are so many things to be thankful for every moment of every day. Today, I am thankful for the wonderful people I have in my life.

I have great friends, some who also happen to be family, and some who are not. I have a wonderful husband who knows exactly who I am, and supports me every step of the way in everything I do. I have three beautiful children, who, although drive me bonkers, also know how to give really great hugs and provide me with so much joy and pride that sometimes I wonder how I keep it all in.

http://blogdailyherald.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/you-complete-me.gifEach of these people keep me afloat. They pick me up when I am down, they give me courage to succeed, and they make me laugh even when I don't want to.

Everyone should be so blessed to have these kinds of people in their lives.

Can you believe it?

It's already been a week since Surrender to Love hit the virtual shelves! Time certainly flies, especially this year. I have been working so hard to get these stories written, I think I breezed straight through summer, and I would have missed fall all together if I hadn't poked my head out of the sand to get some candy on Halloween.

Now Thanksgiving is around the corner! Now that Surrender to Love is available for your reading pleasure, I am hard at work on the next project, Knockout. My hope is to have it finished by the end of the month, although that self-imposed deadline is looking like it may need to be pushed back a bit as time becomes scarcer the closer we get to the holidays.

I also have plans to write another short story installment in the Night Calls Series featuring our favorite couple, Felix and Poppy! My original intention was for it to be a Christmas edition, but as writer's minds are so predictably fickle, I started Knockout and now that has been pushed to Valentine's. My deadlines are all fast approaching, so the name of the game is Focus, Focus, Focus!!

I will be posting sporadically, but I ask that you all be patient with me, since I will be spending most of my time toiling away at getting these projects finished, and I hope you will be there with me when it is time to celebrate :)

Thanks for being your awesome selves!!
