Sneak Peek Saturday ~Untitled Night Calls 3 (WIP)

I am back with an excerpt of the newest book in the Night Calls series that won't release until sometime later this year. And I'm still keeping the guy a secret. But you can put his face together in your mind's eye with this little snippet :)
I've also added a photo of a hot guy to appease you...Enjoy!

“Shit, are you okay?” The sound of a man’s voice penetrated the fog as Patti lifted her head and touched her fingers to her swollen mouth. They came back red and, seeing the damage, the man’s eyes rounded and he wrenched her door open. He was in her face before she could blink an eye. “Here, let me take a look.”
Dazed, all Patti could manage to do was stare at the beautiful stranger kneeling before her. As he inspected her face, she soaked in every detail of his. His eyes were a gorgeous shade of aqua framed by thick, dark lashes. Short, dark hair made even darker by hair product teased his forehead, which was currently marred by tiny furrows. She could feel the tension radiating off of him and she could see it in the firm set of his smooth, square jaw and the tight line of his very full, very kissable lips.
“Can you hear me?” he was saying. Patti blinked away the fog as best she could and realized he had turned those intense blue eyes on her. “Do you know where you are?”
“In my car,” she answered smartly as the last few moments began to return to her.
His head tipped forward once in agreement. “How many fingers am I holding up?” He flashed two so she said four. His eyes grew wider.
“I’m just fucking with you. Two,” she said as she struggled to adjust in her seat. As it turned out, the driver’s side of a car was only meant for one body at a time. With some annoyance, Patti placed her hands on his very nice, very wide shoulders, and firmly but politely shoved him away from her vehicle.

Weekend Writing Warriors 8 Sentences ~ That First Kiss by JC Valentine

His lips grazed lightly across her cheek and Piper closed her eyes as they gently touched her skin and made a slow path along her jaw to her mouth. His breathing was heavy and ragged as he held her close, breathing her in. “I love you, Piper Donovan,” he whispered.
Piper’s breath came to a screeching halt and her heart bottomed out. Had her ears deceived her, or had Tate just told her he loved her?
“I love you so damn much, and it scares the fucking shit out of me,” he confessed through gritted teeth, as if admitting that had cost him dearly. “I know I’m an asshole, and I’m sure as hell not worthy of you, but if you give me a chance, I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to be.”

Teaser Tuesday~ Seducing Cinderella by Gina L. Maxwell

Lucie placed her gift for Lizzie on the designated table by the door and then nervously scanned the sea of people.

"Stop fidgeting," Reid said in her ear. His hand at her lower back helped to ease her, but not by much.

"I'm not fidgeting."

"Yes, you are."

He was right. She was practically hyperventilating, which was likely to come next. She couldn't seem to stop. Why did she feel like she was stepping into the lion's den? These were people she'd known and been comfortable with for years. But what if they didn't like her new look? Or what if they thought poorly of her for changing her appearance?

She barely managed to keep her startled squeak contained in her chest when Reid yanked her out of the room. "Hey!"

"Shh," he ordered as he dragged her down the hall, turned a corner, and then sandwiched her between his large body and the wall. "You're freaking yourself out for no reason, so I'm going to teach you a trick I use before a fight."

"Reid, I hardly think--"

"No thinking. Visualizing. Before I step into a cage I visualize every punch, every kick, every takedown. I know my opponent well from studying his previous fights. I anticipate how he'll react to my attacks so I'll be ready for any situation. That's exactly what I want you to do right now."

I've been anticipating reading Seducing Cinderella since I caught a gander at this gorgeous cover. It's gorgeous, right?! So, what are your thoughts on this little snippet? Have you read anything by Maxwell in the past, or have you already read Seducing Cinderella? Share your thoughts, I'd love to hear them!
