Sneak Peek Saturday ~Untitled Night Calls 3 (WIP)

I am back with an excerpt of the newest book in the Night Calls series that won't release until sometime later this year. And I'm still keeping the guy a secret. But you can put his face together in your mind's eye with this little snippet :)
I've also added a photo of a hot guy to appease you...Enjoy!

“Shit, are you okay?” The sound of a man’s voice penetrated the fog as Patti lifted her head and touched her fingers to her swollen mouth. They came back red and, seeing the damage, the man’s eyes rounded and he wrenched her door open. He was in her face before she could blink an eye. “Here, let me take a look.”
Dazed, all Patti could manage to do was stare at the beautiful stranger kneeling before her. As he inspected her face, she soaked in every detail of his. His eyes were a gorgeous shade of aqua framed by thick, dark lashes. Short, dark hair made even darker by hair product teased his forehead, which was currently marred by tiny furrows. She could feel the tension radiating off of him and she could see it in the firm set of his smooth, square jaw and the tight line of his very full, very kissable lips.
“Can you hear me?” he was saying. Patti blinked away the fog as best she could and realized he had turned those intense blue eyes on her. “Do you know where you are?”
“In my car,” she answered smartly as the last few moments began to return to her.
His head tipped forward once in agreement. “How many fingers am I holding up?” He flashed two so she said four. His eyes grew wider.
“I’m just fucking with you. Two,” she said as she struggled to adjust in her seat. As it turned out, the driver’s side of a car was only meant for one body at a time. With some annoyance, Patti placed her hands on his very nice, very wide shoulders, and firmly but politely shoved him away from her vehicle.

Sneak Peek Saturday ~ Untitled (Night Calls, 3) by J.C. Valentine

So, you already know that That First Kiss (Night Calls, 2) hits the market on June 18th, but I bet you didn't know that work is already underway on Night Calls, 3! Although it is as yet untitled, I am several thousand words in and I thought I'd give you a little taste of what's to come.
(But I'm keeping the guy a secret!)
Enjoy, and be sure to share what you think with me :)

****
“Listen, this is probably a little unorthodox, considering I just rear-ended you.” Patti smirked. “That came out wrong.” He straightened, combing his fingers through his hair as he composed himself before leaning into her window again. “Would you like to go to dinner with me?”

Patti nibbled her lip, considering his offer. “I don’t know if that would be wise,” she said slowly. “I just got out of a relationship.”
“Well, lucky for me, I usually prefer my dates to be unattached. Nothing dampens an evening more than having to put down a jealous boyfriend.”
            “Confident are we?”
            “Obnoxiously so.”
Patti couldn’t stop the stupid grin from spreading across her face. How did a girl say no to that?

Sneak Peek Saturday~ That First Kiss by JC Valentine

“God, you’re so beautiful,” Tate murmured. Burying his face in her hair, he inhaled deeply. “You always smell so good.”
Slowly, Piper leaned back and turned her head to face him. When she met his gaze, she felt the intense heat reflected in his eyes zip through her body to settle between her thighs.
“You’re drunk,” she told him, unwilling to believe anything he said in his current state, but unable to deny how good his words made her feel.
Moving his hands up to cradle her face between his heated palms, Tate lowered his head until his lips hovered over hers. Her heart raced out of control and the focus of her world funneled into a narrow scope in which only she and Tate existed. She leaned into him, her body hungry for his touch, his kiss, his everything. As his breath mingled with hers, the bitter smell of alcohol hit her in the nose, bringing her back to reality.
Tate’s mind was clouded and he was in no position to make decisions. Piper had been dreaming of this moment since their brief encounter in the women’s bathroom, but if she kissed him now, she would be taking advantage of the situation. She had a feeling that Tate didn’t give out kisses lightly—she hadn’t seen him kiss any woman since, though she couldn’t say what he did in the privacy of a public bathroom. Call her crazy, but if he ever decided to kiss her again, she wanted it to mean something, and she wanted him to remember it in the morning.
Shaking her head, Piper tried to pull away, but Tate tightened his hold, drawing her closer and tilting her face up to meet his. In a blink, his mouth was on hers, his lips moving in a sensual dance that ignited a fire deep inside her.

That First Kiss is now available for pre-order for all of you paperback lovers out there!

Sneak Peek Saturday~ That First Kiss by JC Valentine

“Well, that asshole,” Shelia breathed down the line. Piper could practically hear the steam coming out of her ears. “And to think that I was going to do you a solid and take that piece of hotness off your hands. Well, he can just think again!”
“Thanks, Sheila. Your generosity knows no bounds, truly.” Piper couldn’t help smiling a little. There was a reason she called this woman her friend, and it was because she always knew how to make her smile, even when it was the last thing she felt like doing.
“That’s what I’m here for, doll.” Piper cringed at her chosen endearment, her thoughts reflecting back to when Tate had used it on her. She didn’t want to think about any of that. “So, are you going to kick his ass, or should I do the honors?”
Piper stared at the door Tate had blown out of less than an hour ago and sighed. “I just want to forget about all of this.”
“Well, that’ll be a piece of cake,” Sheila said sarcastically. “Considering he’s the first person you’re going to see tomorrow morning.”
Like she needed the reminder? “I know. Believe me, I know.” She shook her head, trying to clear away the disturbing thought.  “Look, I can’t think about this anymore tonight,” Piper told her truthfully, though she knew she would probably be awake all night doing just that. “Talk to you tomorrow?”
“Of course. I’ll call you after I get off work.” There was a pause. “You’ll tell me if anyone needs their ass kicked, won’t you?”
“You’ll be the first person I call.”
“Good, because I’ve been thinking about taking up boxing, and I could use a dummy to practice on.”

Sneak Peek Saturday~ Crossfire (Addicted, 2) by Brandi Salazar

“Patrick, this is Isaac, our new wherever-we-need-him guy,” I said, using Marcy’s words to describe him. “You’ll be training him while I’m away.”

Pursing his lips and narrowing his eyes, Patrick sized Isaac up from head to toe. “Anything I should know about this character before I take him under my wing and share all my secrets?” he asked, totally serious.

I turned my own eyes on Isaac and regarded him for a long moment. “Well, he doesn’t talk much—”

“The deadliest kind.”

“He seems to catch on quick.”

“Highly observant. Possibly dangerous.” Patrick rubbed a thoughtful finger across his bottom lip.

“And he smells good.” I blushed a little on that one, but I figured if I put it out there then it would instantly diffuse the awkward feeling building inside me since my discovery. It didn’t.

“Gay?” Patrick asked him.

Isaac’s eyes widened, immediately affronted by the question. “What? No!”

“Homophobe?” Patrick asked in a dangerous tone.

I nearly laughed at the deer in the headlights look flashing in Isaac’s eyes. After a tense silence, Patrick took pity on him and burst out laughing. Punching him in the shoulder, Patrick said, “Dude, I’m just messin’ with you.”

Crossfire is the second book in the Addicted to Magic series. As you can see, it contains just as much, if not more, humor than the first! I love Jessica and her BFF Amber. They always give me a chuckle, but the laughs don't stop there. Keep your eye out for more of Crossfire as we close in on its August release date. And, if you enjoyed this sneak peek, drop me a line and tell me about it! I always enjoy hearing from my readers!

One woman stands in his way: the seductive, cool-as-ice bodyguard, Renata. But Renata’s powers are put to the test when a loved one, a child, is threatened and she’s forced to turn to Niko for help. As the two join forces, as desire fans the flames of a deeper hunger, Renata’s life is under siege by a man who offers the exquisite pleasure of a blood bond—and a passion that could save or doom them both forever.…

Initially, I resisted reading Adrian's Midnight series because I am a die hard J.R. Ward fan and I'd heard that Midnight was just a sorry excuse for a knock-off. Then she changed her covers and I accidentally scooped one up one day while on a book binge and I've never looked back. Say what you will, but this series is fantastic and holds it own in the vampire world. So, here's an excerpt to get you started :)

"Would you like to see what she can do?"

Fabian's glittering gaze was answer enough. Lex led the way back into the lodge and found Mira creeping down the hallway toward her bedroom. He went up and grabbed her by the arm, wheeling her around to face the Darhaven leader. She whimpered a little at his rough handling, but Lex ignored the brat's complaining. He pulled off her veil and pushed her in front of Edgar Fabien.

"Open your eyes," he demanded. When she didn't immediately comply, Lex persuaded her with  a rap of his knuckles against the back of her small blond head. "Open them, Mira."

He knew she had because in the next moment, Edgar Fabien's expression went from one of moderate inquisitiveness to outright wonder and amazement. He stared, transfixed, his jaw slack.

Then he smiled. A broad, awestruck grin. "My God," he breathed, unable to tear his gaze away from Mira's witchy eyes.

"What do you see?" Lex asked.

It took Fabien some time before he answered. "Is it...could this possibly be my future I am looking at? My destiny?"

Sneak Peek Saturday~The Ghost in my Bedroom by Heather Jones

Lucy Warner has managed to fall in love with her roommate – who has been dead for about 25 years. Since he’s been haunting her bedroom from the time when she was a baby, they have grown to be very good friends; a secret that no one else knows about, not even her best friend Ling. But Lucy wonders if it is possible to be more than just friends, as she realizes Ryan is the perfect guy for her.

It is the summer after high school graduation. Lucy finds herself newly single, and slightly bitter after a bad breakup. When Ling sets her up on a date with Jon, she plays along to try and forget about her ghost and get on in life with a real living guy. But when she finds out Jon can see ghosts too, keeping her secret gets a little complicated.

"Oh Ryan, I've been in love with you for so long..."

"Lucy," he said cutting me off, shaking his head. "You know we can't do this. We can't possibly have a future together."

I felt my heart rip in half as he said what I already knew to be true, but all of my instinct told me to fight it. "Don't say that."

"No, I have to, don't think I haven't thought this through a million times. There is no way we can be together. I'm dead. You're not," he shrugged like it was the most matter of fact thing he'd ever said.

Awe, so sad :(
So what do you think? Could you fall in love with a ghost?

Sneak Peek Saturday~ Damaged by H.M. Ward

Before you say anything, I know, it's late. In my defense, I had to take my daughter to a birthday party. Just part of being a mom! But you're not here to listen to me ramble....

"The way you turned green the other night has everyone thinking you're knocked up and that the pretty professor did it."

What a jackass. I flip through his contacts looking for one in particular. "You seriously know how to flatter a girl. You called me fat and slutty in the same sentence." I press my thumb to one of his contacts and his phone dials.

Dusty finally notices that I'm not playing Angry Birds. "Hey, what are you doing?"

I hold up my index finger and shush him. Someone answers after a few rings. "Hi, this is Sidney Colleli. I'm sitting here with your son and I thought you'd be horrified at his manners. He really needs a once over before I smack my tray over his head." I called his Mom's cell phone.

She seems nice, but Dusty is hyperventilating, watching me as his thin body folds in half. He hisses, "You called my mom!"

I just finished this one today, and I loved the connection between the two MCs. Lots of humor and good times alongside the bad. Worth the read :)

Sneak Peek Saturday....Plus a Litttle Extra ;)

Okay, so I have good news and bad news. Which shall we start with? May I suggest a good old fashioned coin toss?

Heads! I win!
Kidding, kidding.
By executive order, we'll start with the good news.
Yesterday, in the we hours before dawn, I put down the last words of my latest novel, That First Kiss!
I know, it's exciting news, right?! I am freaking out over here. There is no better feeling than finishing something you created, especially when you procrastinate as much as I do :D

So now that that's done, I am starting the first stage of editing, which will be followed by and second and third and forth until my eyes cross and I pretty much hate every word I put down. That's when I know it is time for the betas, which brings me to my next order of operation. Betas.

Is there anyone out there in Betaland who is interested in reading erotic romance?

I need someone who:

1. Has a good turnover. I.e. you read fast. (I'm an impatient person, what can I say.)
2. Is good with grammar and punctuation. (I need a second set of eyes to help me catch the mistakes I didn't during editing stages 1,2,3,4.....)
3. Isn't a yes man. (Please tell me what works and what doesn't. You might hurt my feelings--I am a delicate soul--but I promise you, I can take it. I want this to be the best story ever!)

I think that's about it! If you're interested, you can contact me at branflake3083@gmail.com. Make sure to include "beta" in the subject line so I don't skim over it :)

Okay, so the bad news.
I haven't been reading, like, at all the past few days, so....
No sneak peek for you!!
I kid, I kid. I may not have had a chance to read, but I would never deny you your peeks.
I just so happen to have one teeny tiny gem right here in my back pocket.
While editing last night I came across a yummy little morsel that I thought you all might enjoy.

Can you guess what book it's from?
That's right! As it turns out, That First Kiss is full of yummy goodness, and although this isn't the first of it I have shared with you, as we head closer to the release date (which is sometime in May) it certainly won't be the last!
Without furthur ado....

Strong hands enveloped her waist, pulling her firmly against a broad chest. Body heat seared her back, sending shivers of excitement shooting through her. Her lungs constricted and her breathing grew shallow. She couldn’t see who she was dancing with, but she didn’t care. She was lost to the sensation of the male body wrapped around her, to the heavy beat of the music vibrating in her chest, the way his hands and hips guided hers into a smooth, sensual rhythm. Leaning her head back, Piper closed her eyes and let the feeling of his arms around her and the constant pulse of the music lure her toward a state of bliss.

Like I said, teeny tiny, but oh so good. And, just to make it a little more interesting, here is the song this smexy couple is dancing to. Enjoy!

Saturday Sneak Peek~

"Good morning," I say quietly.

"I love your sleepy voice," she sighs. Her fingers work into my hair and I close my eyes. I love that. My life is so perfect. It's scary as hell.

I press my hand into her stomach, spreading my fingers across the towel. She shakes her head. "Don't start." Her voice is breathless and I know she doesn't really mean it. "We're supposed to be at the house by noon."

I smirk at her deviously. "We have plenty of time."

Her hand on my chest stops my advance towards her neck. "I have to make the pies." She swallows and my eyes are drawn to the delicate movement of her throat. I want to put my lips there so badly.

She pushes against me and I roll off her with a loud groan. "Fine. Go make pie, but I better get a piece of yours as soon as we get home."

She pauses halfway to the closet and spins around. Without warning, she pounces on me, forcing the breath from my lungs.

"Say it again," Hope whispers against my cheek.

"Ugh. What?" I croak. Her knee may have grazed a testicle. I may never be capable of having children or walking normal again. "That I want a piece of your pie? I think I tell you that every day." I adjust her leg, moving away from the boys, and finally look at her face. Her eyes are bright with excitement and she's smiling widely.

I love her smile.

"The part about being home--as soon as we  get home."

Jesus. This is why I love this girl. I grip her cheeks and kiss her deeply. "Our home," I say against her lips. "Our bedroom." I kiss her again. "Our bed."

"Our pie?"

I laugh. "No, that's just mine."

****

Such a good book! How can you not love these two?!
Make sure to add Blackbird to your TBR and if you haven't already checked out the full length novel Sometimes Never, definitely do that too!

Saturday Sneak Peek~ That First Kiss

“So…” Piper dragged the word out, waiting for him to explain himself further.

“What?”
“What do you mean what?” Piper asked, growing frustrated. “You told me we had work to do, but it’s pretty obvious that there is something else going on here. So, what’s on your mind? And don’t say work, because it’s plain to me that’s not what you dragged me away for.”

Tate rounded on her. “One, I didn’t drag you anywhere. You came willingly. Two, I wasn’t lying when I said there’s work to do.” He took a step back, visibly calming himself. “Look, you were right. I did have another reason for dragging you away.”

“Aha!” Piper jumped on her heels, pointing a triumphant finger at him. “So you admit that you dragged me.”

Tate smirked. “Honestly, you make me sound like some sort of caveman. Had that been the case, you would be unconscious and completely at my mercy right now. And trust me,” he said, his voice growing husky as they fell off his tongue and he stepped forward, closing the distance between them. “I can think of so many things to do to you, and you wouldn’t be complaining about any of them.”

As close as he was now, Piper was forced to tilt her head back to meet his eyes. The fire she found in them made her body tingle, and she swallowed thickly, wanting to step into his arms and lose herself in his sensual promise. “I doubt that,” she murmured, not wanting him to know how much his words were affecting her.

Tate’s eyes dilated and she felt a jolt of electricity pass between them when he reached out to grasp her hips. He pulled her up against him, forcing her hands up to his chest to brace her as she crashed into him. “You doubt me?”

Already beginning to lose herself in his ocean blue eyes, Piper managed a weak response. “Can’t doubt what I already know.”

The fierce look of possessiveness Tate unleashed on her made Piper’s knees tremble. Desire consumed her and before she knew what he was doing, before she could even consider stopping him, Tate’s mouth crashed down on hers.
