Initially, I resisted reading Adrian's Midnight series because I am a die hard J.R. Ward fan and I'd heard that Midnight was just a sorry excuse for a knock-off. Then she changed her covers and I accidentally scooped one up one day while on a book binge and I've never looked back. Say what you will, but this series is fantastic and holds it own in the vampire world. So, here's an excerpt to get you started :)

 "Would you like to see what she can do?" 

Fabian's glittering gaze was answer enough. Lex led the way back into the lodge and found Mira creeping down the hallway toward her bedroom. He went up and grabbed her by the arm, wheeling her around to face the Darhaven leader. She whimpered a little at his rough handling, but Lex ignored the brat's complaining. He pulled off her veil and pushed her in front of Edgar Fabien. 

"Open your eyes," he demanded. When she didn't immediately comply, Lex persuaded her with  a rap of his knuckles against the back of her small blond head. "Open them, Mira." 

He knew she had because in the next moment, Edgar Fabien's expression went from one of moderate inquisitiveness to outright wonder and amazement. He stared, transfixed, his jaw slack. 

Then he smiled. A broad, awestruck grin. "My God," he breathed, unable to tear his gaze away from Mira's witchy eyes. 

"What do you see?" Lex asked. 

It took Fabien some time before he answered. "Is it...could this possibly be my future I am looking at? My destiny?"

Teaser Tuesday~ Edge of Dawn by Lara Adrian

It's been a while since we had a teaser, so why not jump right into it, eh? Glad you agree!

TEASER:

"You're awake." The woman with the long black hair. Brady, they called her. Mira recognized her voice and the long-legged gait as footsteps approached the bed. "How do you feel?"

"Like I'm going to vomit," Mira replied, her own voice raw from disuse. "But then, being near rebel scum tends to have that effect on me." She cleared her arid throat. "That's what you are, right? Rebels. Lowlife cowards who plot and skulk around in the shadows like a den of rats, making messes for other people to clean up. Taking the lives of people worth any hundred of your kind."

The woman said nothing in response to all that venom. There was a soft rustle of movement beside the bed near Mira's head, then the liquid sound of something being poured into a glass. "Drink this," she told Mira.

Don't you just love Lara Adrian?! And I think I glimpsed some Chase in there, too. Looks like I'm going to be caught up in the Midnight Breed world today!
