Happy 40th Birthday, Ella!
Now that I am closing in on the big 3-0, I reflect back fondly on my early years. As a young mother, I've enjoyed quite a few happy birthday memories surrounded by my loved ones, but I think the most special has always belonged to my children. It's such a huge milestone to celebrate that 1st birthday, and who better than with the person who changed your life completely?
My first-born enjoyed his cake like any baby does: smothered in icing. While this took place before digital photos became all the rage, leaving me unable to share that day with you, here is a peek of my little heart-breaker not long after.
Awwwww!

Speaking of heartbreakers...

There is something about the first birthday of your child. The cake in the face, the excitement and remembrance of their birth.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Ella, with a bunch of cherries on top!
The first birthdays are always so amazing. Of the 5 boys, our youngest was the most memorable. We have a tradition of not cutting a child's hair until after they are 1. So I had a friend of mine who is a beautician come to the house and do his ceremonial hair cut in the kitchen. That was also the last birthday party my husband's 2 grandfathers attended before passing away a few months later. The memory is priceless.

Happy Birthday Ella! My most memorable birthday was meeting my fiance for the first time that was the best present any guy could ever get we will be getting married in a few months. joehawkshaw@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memory is one birthday when I was 8 or 9 (I think) and my parents let me invite a bunch of people over, including all of my family, and everyone just ran around in the yard, jumped on the trampoline, got in and out of those plastic pools around the yard, ate homemade cake and ice cream that my mom made, and hit the pinata! It was super fun just to be a kid and run around with all of my friends on a great day that involved homemade yummy treats!
